Plane gates are usually paced in the water catchment, reservoir flume, headrace and collecting well of waterpower constructions for water supply and drainage, water conservancy and flood control etc, functioned to switchover channels or cut off water flow. Mediums may be raw water, clean water or sewage under normal temperature.
Plane gates are unidirectioally orbidirectionally pressed by hydraulic pressure. Unidirectionally pressed gates bear a pressure of 0.1 Mpa positively and a pressure of 0.02 Mpa negatively. Bidirectionally pressed gates ber the same value at 0.1 Mpa. Rubber sealed gates should be started equal to water level. According to different materils, gates are classified to round, square and rectangular cast iron gates, square and rectangular carbon steel welded gates, and stainless steel thn-walled square gates. According to different structures, they may be cassified to rising and non-rising stem types, and types with sealing rings and without sealing rings.
